Dept Alumnus Hikabwa Chipande Appointed Lecturer at UNZA

The History Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Hikabwa Chipande (MSU History, 2015) as a Lecturer in the Department of History, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, at the University of Zambia in Lusaka.

At UNZA, Chipande teaches undergraduate and graduate African history courses and conducts research on the relationships between politics and sport, particularly football (soccer). His recent MSU doctoral dissertation was entitled “Chipolopolo: a political and social history of football in Zambia, 1940s-1994” (supervised by Prof. Peter Alegi).

Dr. Chipande is also serving as a Research Fellow of the Southern African Institute for Policy and Research and lends his expertise to a number of sports development programs in Zambia. Congratulations Chipande and keep in touch!
