Ethan Segal, a scholar of East Asian monetary systems and trade, spoke for the Indiana University East Asian Studies Center in Bloomington earlier this month. He also was invited to hold a book workshop for graduate students to discuss his 2011 book Coins, Trade, and the State: Economic Growth in Early Medieval Japan.
