Historians receive IAH teaching awards

Professor Nwando Achebe won the 2011 Fintz Award for Teaching Excellence in the Arts and Humanities in an IAH 201-210 course for her outstanding performance as the course faculty of IAH 205: Africa and the World at Michigan State University.  The Fintz Award recognizes exceptional faculty who, in keeping with the goals of integrative studies, seek to make students familiar with different ways of knowing and artistic expression and to assist them in developing critical thinking and effective communication skills.
History Graduate student Nicole Magie won the 2011 Somers Excellence in Teaching Award for her outstanding performance as an instructor of IAH courses at Michigan State University.  The Somers Award recognizes teaching assistants who have exhibited a commitment to excellence, innovation and creativity in undergraduate teaching.
