Professor Peter Alegi to comment on World Cup panel

With support from a Fulbright fellowship, MSU History professor Peter Alegi, author of two books on soccer in Africa, continues this semester to teach and research in South Africa. On 3 September 2010, the German Academic Exchange Service, in cooperation with the South African Institute of International Affairs, hosts the final lecture of the “Extra Time” series on “The Legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.” The keynote speaker is Willi Lemke, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Sport for Development and Peace.  Three expert co-speakers, Rich Mkhondo (LOC), Niren Tolsi (Mail & Guardian) and Dr. Peter Alegi (MSU/UKZN) will respond to Mr Lemke’s speech.
