Biography
London Hawes is a scholar of the American women’s suffrage movement. Her MA thesis, Eleanor Spears and the Unanswered Questions of Progressivism, examined the life of a previously unknown New York suffragist and supported the existence of a Long Progressive Era. London’s other research interests include trans-Pacific and Pan-American suffrage linkages, city planning, and the cultural history of beaches and oceans.
