I am an enthusiastic doctorate candidate who is deeply engrossed in the intricate fabric of African history, with a particular emphasis on the intricacies of British colonization in Kenya. My research focuses on the turbulent period of the Mau Mau uprising, peeling back the layers of historical narratives under the esteemed guidance of Prof Michelle Moyd. Within this context, my research meticulously investigates the frequently disregarded facets of violent British colonial rule, with a focus on the experiences of loyalists in Kenya.
I explore the complex relationships that molded the lives of people caught in the crossfire of the Mau Mau insurgency. Through an examination of the complex effects of colonial violence, my research adds to a more sophisticated comprehension of the larger socio-political context of colonial Africa. Beyond the academic realm, I have a strong commitment to historical outreach and public participation to critically close the knowledge gap between the general population and academic research.
