Dr. Gwendolyn Midlo-Hall will conduct a seminar on The Black Rice Debate, which will be featured in the February 2010 American Historical Review. Several papers will be discussed including hers titled “Africa and Africans in the African Diaspora: the Uses of Relational Databases.”
Dr. Gwendolyn Midlo-Hall is Professor Emerita of Lantin American and Caribbean History at Rutgers. She has won many awards including the John Hope Franklin Prize of the American Studies Association. She is author of many books including Africans in Colonial Louisiana: The Development of Afro-Creole Culture in the Eighteenth Century (Baton Rouge, LA: Louisiana State University Press, 1992) andSlavery and African Ethnicities in teh Americas: Restoring the Links (Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 2005).
