Please join us for the next event of the speaker series. Dr. Mark Healey (University of Connecticut) will talk about “Political Biographies of Disasters: Argentina in Comparative Perspective.” The talk explores how the response of state and citizens to the 1944 earthquake in San Juan, Argentina, transformed not only the area but the nation. It draws on Dr. Healey’s recent book, The Ruins of the New Argentina: Peronism and the Remaking of San Juan after the 1944 Earthquake (Duke University Press, 2011)
Thursday, February 19, 4:30 PM, Old Hort 255. Light refreshments will be served.
