Sean Forner’s new book, German Intellectuals and the Challenge of Democratic Renewal: Culture and Politics after 1945, is now available from Cambridge University Press.
The book examines how democracy was rethought in Germany after National Socialism. Focusing on a loose network of public intellectuals in the immediate postwar years, it reconstructs a distinctive vision of renewal that emerged after 1945 and fueled critique and dissent in both postwar Germanys, across the East-West Cold War divide.
