Professor Cain’s research interests include the history of evolutionary studies (especially the synthesis period in evolutionary studies), Darwin and Darwinism, history of science in London, and history of natural history. Among Cain’s extensive publications are: (2013) The Brown Dog in Battersea Park; (2011) No Ordinary Space: A Brief History of the Grant Museum’s New Home at University College London; (2009) Descended from Darwin: Insights into the History of Evolutionary Studies, 1900-1970.
