Organized by Professor Lewis Siegelbaum and Ph.D. student Emily Elliott, the spring meeting of the Midwest Russian Historians Workshop will be held at MSU on March 27 and March 28. Pre-distributed papers by graduate students and faculty range from the collection and medicinal use of juniper in the 17th and 18th centuries, to the historiography of a Kazakh legend, the construction of a railroad in Tajikistan in the 1930s, how ballet became Soviet, and a comparison of the funerary arrangements for Abraham Lincoln and Tsar Alexander III.
