This award of $500.00 is designed to recognize the best history essay written in the current academic year (Summer Semester – Spring Semester) by an undergraduate MSU History major.
The History Department at MSU presents this award in honor of Professor David LoRomer, who was a historian of modern Western Europe, with special emphasis on the economic history of Italy in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Dr. LoRomer taught at MSU for 30 years, from 1974 to 2004. He received his B.A. in 1961, his M.A. in 1967, and his Ph.D. in 1975, all from the University of California at Berkeley. In 1990 he designed and began teaching a combined history and language program in Rome. He also helped develop an exchange program between MSU and the John Cabot University in Rome. Dr. LoRomer died in 2004, leaving behind a legacy of education, research, and outreach in his field.
Your entry should be submitted electronically as an attachment to an e-mail message addressed to Prof. Kirsten Fermaglich.
