The Canadian Association of African Studies announced that Katie Carline won this year’s Fraser Taylor Award for the best graduate student paper presented at the CAAS annual conference.
Katie’s paper was titled “Mothers on the Move: Manyanos and the Social History of Transportation in a South African Homeland Township, 1963-1990.” It draws on her doctoral dissertation on Black women’s Christian groups in East London, South Africa, which she is completing under the guidance of Prof. Peter Alegi.
