Amanda Lynn Haislip has been awarded an OAH Conference Travel Award by the
Program Committee of the Society for Historians of the Gilded Age and
Progressive Era (SHGAPE).
The award winners are chosen on the basis of merit and are graduate students
that are presenting at the Organization of American Historians conference on a
SHGAPE sponsored or co-sponsored panel. Amanda will be presenting her paper
“Food and the Mentally Ill: Administration, Expertise, Patients, and Diet in an
Early-Twentieth-Century Mental Hospital” on the panel “Examining Freedom and
Psychiatric Institutions: New Directions in the History of American Psychiatry.”
The award will be presented at the annual SHGAPE OAH Luncheon.
