Empire and Belonging in the Eurasian Borderlands, a volume of eleven essays co-edited by Lewis Siegelbaum and Krista Goff (University of Miami) has been published by Cornell University Press. The book is about the production of affinities and antipathies within the empires and nations on either side of the Russian-Turkish border extending eastward into Central Asia. It originated as a conference to honor the work of Ronald Grigor Suny, the William H. Sewell Jr. Distinguished University Professor of History at the University of Michigan. The Department of History at Michigan State, the University of Michigan and the University of Miami generously assisted to offset the cost of the book’s publication.
