Ph.D. Candidate Lyudmila (Lucy) Austin has been awarded a nine-month American Councils Academic Fellowship in Russia (AFR), which is funded through the Carnegie Corporation of New York. As an American Councils (AFR) Fellow, Lucy will continue research on her dissertation, Migration, Nation, and Selfhood in the Northern Caucasus since the Late Soviet Period, in Rostov and Moscow, Russia.
The Academic Fellowships in Russia program supports US graduate students enrolled in Ph.D. programs in the social sciences, post-doctoral fellows, university faculty, and independent scholars to conduct on-site research and fieldwork in Russia on topics within the social science disciplines.
