Professor Peter Alegi co-organized and moderated a live round table on African football history on December 2, 2021. Featured speakers included History Department alumnus, Dr. Hikabwa Chipande (PhD, 2015), as well as Dr. Martha Saavedra (UC Berkeley), Dr. Chuka Onwumechili (Howard Univ.), Maher Mezahi (journalist) and James Brown (Society for American Soccer History).
The session was co-sponsored by The Football Foundation for Africa, based in Nairobi, Kenya, and the Sports Africa Network, an affiliate organization of the U.S. African Studies Association.
