From 2008 – 2013 students enrolled for History 324: History of Sports produced a rich and extensive archive of oral histories that document the personal and social meanings of sport in society. They have done this through interviewing selected individuals in the 50+ age category. The interviews tap into community networks of parents, family members, friends and community contacts. The interviewees provide insightful commentary on the meanings of sport in everyday life, as well as individual perspectives on significant and politically charged moments in US sports history. A selection of these interviews is available as transcripts, audio or visual recordings.
