Helen Kaibara

I am a PhD candidate student studying twentieth-century Japanese elite organizations in the United States, transpacific elite efforts to construct a global Nikkeijin “model minority,” and the ways in which emigration from Japan to the United States impacted the diplomatic relations between these two nations.

Until March 2016, I will be in Tokyo, Japan, conducting dissertation research supported by a Fulbright Hays DDRA award.  In Tokyo, I am affiliated with Rikkyo University’s Institute for American Studies, and my office is room 202 of building 12 on the Ikebukuro campus.
